Money Trail
1) Who we are
Money Trail is built and operated by
Sam (“we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy
Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the
choices you have. By using the app, you agree to this policy.
2) Summary

Offline-first: your finance data is stored on your
device by default.

Cloud Sync is optional and Pro-only. If enabled, we
sync data to support multi-device restore and shared profiles.

Google Drive backup is optional. If enabled, the app
uploads a backup file to your Google Drive (app-private storage).

Free users may see ads (for example via Google AdMob), depending on
your build and settings.

If you purchase Pro, we may verify subscription entitlement using a
purchase token and product ID.
- We do not sell your personal information.
3) Information we collect
The information we collect depends on which features you use.
A) Data you enter in the app

Transactions (amount, date/time, category, notes/description, payment mode).
- Accounts, budgets, debts, tags, rules, and settings.
- Optional attachments/receipts (only if you add them).
B) Account & authentication data

Email address and basic profile info from Google Sign-In (for sign-in and enabled services).
- Authentication identifiers/tokens required to keep you signed in.
C) Cloud Sync & Shared Profiles data (optional)

If you enable Cloud Sync, your finance data may be uploaded to our backend (Supabase)
to sync across devices and support shared profiles.

Shared profiles may allow invited/accepted members to access data inside that shared profile
(depending on role/permissions).
D) Google Drive backup data (optional)

If enabled, the app uploads a backup file to your Google Drive in an app-private storage area.
You can revoke Drive access in your Google Account settings.
E) Feedback you send (optional)

If you submit feedback from inside the app, we collect the email you provide and the message content
so we can respond and improve the app.
F) Notifications (optional)

The app may schedule on-device reminders (local notifications) if you enable them.
G) Advertising data (free users, if ads are enabled)

Advertising ID (where available), IP address (approximate location), ad impressions/clicks,
and diagnostics may be processed by ad partners for ad delivery and measurement.

Personalization depends on your device settings and region. You can limit ad personalization
in Android privacy settings (availability varies).
H) Subscription / Pro purchase data (if you buy Pro)

We may process identifiers such as product ID and purchase token to verify subscription entitlement
and prevent fraud/abuse.
4) How we use information
- Provide core features like tracking, reports, and insights.
- Authenticate your account and keep you signed in.

Sync and restore your data across devices (Cloud Sync) when enabled.
- Enable shared profiles when Cloud Sync is enabled.
- Back up and restore your data to Google Drive when enabled.
- Respond to feedback and support requests.
- Show and measure ads for free users, if ads are enabled.
- Verify subscriptions and activate Pro access when applicable.
5) Where your data is stored

On-device storage: your finance data is stored locally on your phone by default.

Cloud Sync (Supabase): if you enable Cloud Sync, your finance data may be uploaded
to our backend to sync across devices and support shared profiles.

Google Drive backup: if you enable Drive backup, the app may store a backup file in
your Google Drive under your account (app-private storage). You can revoke Drive access any time.
6) Sharing & disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We only share data in these cases:

Service providers that help run enabled features (authentication, sync/hosting,
backup/restore, support).

Advertising partners for ads and measurement when ads are enabled for free users.

Shared profiles (only if you enable Cloud Sync and invite/accept members).
- When you export/share reports or files yourself.
- To comply with law, enforce rights, or prevent fraud/abuse.
Common third-party services
- Google Sign-In (authentication)
- Google Drive API (backup/restore when enabled)
- Supabase (Cloud Sync backend when enabled)
- Google Play Billing (subscriptions / Pro purchase verification)
- Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDK (ads for free users, if enabled)
7) Data retention
- On-device data stays until you delete it, clear app storage, or uninstall.
- If Cloud Sync is enabled, cloud data may remain until you delete it in the app or request deletion.
- Google Drive backup files remain in your Drive until you delete them.
- Subscription verification records may be kept for entitlement and audit purposes.
8) Security
We use reasonable safeguards such as encryption in transit (HTTPS) for network communications.
No system is 100% secure, but we work to reduce risk.
9) Your choices & rights
- Use the app offline without enabling Cloud Sync.
- Enable/disable Cloud Sync in Settings (availability depends on your plan/build).
- Enable/disable Google Drive backup in Settings and revoke access in Google Account settings.
- Delete local data by deleting records, clearing app storage, or uninstalling.

10) Children’s privacy
Money Trail is not designed for children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you
believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we
will take appropriate steps to delete it.
11) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we
will update the effective date and may notify you within the app where
appropriate.
Tip: If you add new SDKs (for example ads/analytics) or change what data you collect,
update this policy and your Play Console Data Safety form.
